Red River Valley
G Major
Play the G major scale as a warm up for this tune. On the G and D strings, your second finger is about 1 and a half inches up from your index finger. On the A and E strings your second finger is right above, almost touching your index finger.
When the notes (numbers) are tight together, for example, 111 - then play them a little fast. If there is a dot after the note “3.” then hold it a little longer than the others.
To play the song on two strings, let your bow ride on the string beneath (lower) than the one you are fingering.
