How to Use Fiddle Tabs
Example: Boil That Cabbage Down (D major)
The string that you will play on is noted above the fingering line (the letters E-A-D-G). The finger that you use is noted below (0-1-2-3-4). See the picture of the fingerboard as a reference. Anytime you play an open string, it is noted above and the fingering is referred to as "0." Anytime you are to change strings, the new string is noted.

To make it sound "fiddley" play on both strings at the same time. In the Key of G play on the A and the D strings at the same time. For the key of D play on the A and the E strings at the same time.
This is a method that will help you to play tunes on the fiddle without the knowledge of reading sheet music. If you find this helpful or have questions, please write to me. I love to teach and am very patient.
